Off E Moses Road

Giran Gaon Mill Village Series: Laxmi Woolen Mill.

Space is a greatest luxury in Mumbai. And an old mill building offers workspace that's with more than ample breathing space. Photographer Dilip Bhatia has utilised one such place for his studio and gallery inside the building that used to be the Laxmi Woolen Mill. Here he rubs shoulders with another business that requires extra space, a furniture store, among other businesses.

Here's Dilip Bhatia's work space:

You can see Dilip Bhatia's work on his website. Or you can visit his gallery + studio at Shakti Mill Lane, Off E Moses Road, Mahalaxmi W. Ph: 2491 5050

This has been quite a trend here in NYC for a while. Abandoned factory/warehouse or industrial spaces converted to an artist's personal space, a gallery or even high end condos. Perhaps much more frequent here, since manufacturing is almost a dead industry. Would be the same in most developed and the now-service-oriented economies.
Lovely images, and interesting to see this view from India.

Thank you, Bhim and Abhijit.

Paul: I don't think he rents it out. It's his personal gallery and workspace. And my pictures are no match. Mine are better off on a blog.

BigApple: Yes. Your right. It's the trend in the now-service oriented economies I guess.
