D'Monte Road

A house that was built when wood was king, survives in the concrete jungle.

I know the feeling of finding one like this. I live in an area, where the old and the new jostle for space... a marble wall (repeat, marble wall) would brush shoulders with a wooden balcony; a glossy, high gate for a diminutive blue house of the 1950s. :D :D
but I like the madness too, simply because they are not decaying. how was this one??

This was decaying. The Mumbai air is not very good. It would need constant maintenance and that's not cheap.

Incidentally I was born in an area called D'monte colony in Chennai..my mother's home rather..unfortunately that area is in a state of decay too, thanks to some litigation

This is beautiful. Almost like the bleached bones of a skeleton.
