D'Monte Road

A house that was built when wood was king, survives in the concrete jungle.

This boy wears his love for Jamaica on his wrist and cast.
Ghetto 2.
This place reminded me of the Johnson Market area of Richmond Town, Bangalore (Some old pics). It's got a similar mix of people (Shia Muslims, Christians), Christian schools and road names, mosques, chapels and Bob Marley fans. In Richmond Town, there's a roadside vendor who is a unofficial High Commissioner for Jamaica, and in Bandra resides his counterpart in Mumbai. The only thing missing in Richmond Town were the Western Style graffiti.

Muharram flag.

Ghetto.
The walls of D'Monte street and the patli gallis that stick out from it is where a rather prolific wall artist(or artists) live. You can see his/her/their work all over Bandra but this is where you will find most of the work and experiments. I assume that this is where they live.
The writings on the wall:
Hear My Voice. AXE (The artist's name?)
Bombay KGN Boys. (No idea what Ajmerwalla Khuda Gharib Nawaz will have to say about their art)
Gonsalves - Bombay the hard way.
The the name of the dancer is the foreground is a little boy called Faiz. He studies in the 6th standard in a local English medium convent school.

D'Monte Street, Bandra + Western Express Highway, Goregaon (E)

Gridlock City.
The sheer volume of traffic on the city streets is driving the people (who created all the traffic in the first place) mad. So how many vehicles actually use the city streets everyday? To find out, the Transport Department has set up tents on all major arteries this week. This one is on the WE Highway.

Smoking kills. Did you know that traffic cops in Indian metros have a shorter life expectancy figure?
