Turmeric.
Every July, Pochamma Devi Panduga (Telugu) and Ashada Jatra is celebrated with great pomp. Pochamma and the other version of devis (Mahakali and Renuka/Yellamma) are worshiped, mostly by women and also by the transgender community here.
Turmeric is the colour of the day and an integral part of the celebration. It's the symbol of Yellamma or Renuka who has turmeric smeared on her forehead, just like her followers.
