Statues of Mumbai: Workers of an industrial estate.
It is interesting to see the industrial estates of the 20th century transforming at glacial speed (glacial speed of the past centuries) to serve the new economy because of the strange laws of the country.Wagle Estate seems to be one such estate with taller trees that mark the age of the place.
It has this lovely sculpture of a workers with spanners fixing what is unfix-able - the manufacturing sector. At least not by the people ruling over us now. Unless they surprise us lesser Indian with some brilliance they have not show so far.
Mumbai was an industrial city and a place for manufacturing. Much of it was in Thane district and even today, it is where the new service industries quietly work away.
