Talaash! Which part of Mumbai do you want to see?

Lokhande Marg + Shivaji Chowk

3rd January Mumbai Bandh following the Bheema-Koregaon violence.

It was strange to see a bandh being enforced in Mumbai after a long time. And not by the Shiv Sena. These are images from parts of Chembur with a sizeable organised Dalit residents. The bandh was called to condemn the violence against the people from Mumbai who had gone to Bheema- Koregaon on Jan 1st (an annual event, but bigger because it was the 200th anniversary of the war that ended the Peshwa rule and the Dalits/Mahars formed a major part of the British Native Battalion from Mumbai).
