Talaash! Which part of Mumbai do you want to see?

Goregaon Skyline

Expanding city

Goregaon has been part the heavily settled part of Mumbai for a long time now coming a long way from when it was seen as a place to have the farms to supply milk to the city of Mumbai.

This photograph is from one of the towers next to Oberoi Mall. The Oberoi family has made a small section of Goregaon, their own now.

One of my friends from college grew up here in the late 70s and 80s before he moved to Bangalore in 1991. At that time, this place next to the Oberoi Mall was colony or quarters of a pharmaceutical company. It was surrounded with trees and semi-forested. It was an extension of the forest to the east.

View from the high rise in the above photographs.

The reason the homes that are high up are prized is because of the greenery to the east that still exists. It is something all politicians are eyeing to fill their family treasure chests.
