Election 2019 Result and New Indian Vocabulary
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was swept back to power in a landslide victory after 5 years of power. It was largely expected because of the lack of a credible opposition and the organisational depth of his party, the BJP.
Chowkidar
Every egg hurled at Modi by Rahul Gandhi, the BJP chose to cultivate as the face of the opposition was quickly turned into an advantage. 'Chowkidar Chor Hain' was a slogan Gandhi made that was quickly galvanised into a campaign that shepherded Modi's followers.
However, there was a reluctance by people who are not the hardcore supporters to use the name as prefix, as suggested by the PM.
People were also unsure about what to say in public because while the result show an up-swell of support for Modi, during the campaign. There seems to have been a small doubt about Modi's chances mainly because of his lacklustre performance on the economic front. Or maybe it was because the people who used it as a prefix were the rudest people on social media and not everyone wants to be seen as a troll who only target women online like many of Modi's online followers.
Whitewash and Gaslight
Post election, the newspapers and talking heads are making this election win a success of his populist economic policy that helped lift the lives of the poorest of the poor. The PM is talking secularism which is in sharp contrast to what he said just a few days back. You can watch his actions in the coming days and decide what his party wants.
What about the agrarian crisis?
Farmers seem to have voted for Modi overwhelmingly. They don't attribute the slow days in agriculture to the PM in far away Delhi.

Surgical Strike
Modi is seen as strong when it comes to defence thanks to his response to an attach by militants on a CRPF convoy in J&K.
J&K however is probably his first terms biggest failure. India's majority believe in showing power and showing people down the social hierarchy 'their place' and while objectively speaking J&K has been a big failure, it is a success when it comes to how people want to see Kashmiris from the valley treated.
Terrorist
The biggest signal from Delhi, both by BJP and the people who voted for it is that the upper caste supremacist ideology will be the governing principle of the Central Government. Accept your place in the hierarchy dictated by them. Their vision points towards an all powerful Hindutva party with a role like that of the Communist Party in China.
Why?
In spite of knowing that it is going to be a win for the BJP, the party chose to project a communal agenda including giving a ticket to a terrorist who is accused and out on bail. However, she is not a called a terrorist because in India and for the people, terrorists are a label that apply only to Islamic terrorists.
What's Ahead
While we seek for signals about any new economic vision, The RSS Chief spoke today about a protectionist, socialist or left leaning economic focus. The country seems likely to continue to look inwards and stick to what we saw for the last 5 years.
One danger you can surely expect: Environmental bloodbath as forests and protected land will be given out to be developed and stimulate the economy
