Mumbai Greying and my extended family

One of the reasons I probably look for how old people are adjusting to our city is because of the mean and median age of my extended family. It is mostly grey. Recently, I attended a wedding attended by my wife's family members and friends. At the wedding, there was only one person who was below 10 years old among about 400 people.  It was my nephew Madhav. My son Kartik is now eleven years old and he was the other child. There were a couple of other children who were a few years older than Kartik but they were dressed and behaving like adults or wanted to look older. As a result, there were no kids running around in the marriage hall. There were no screaming parents asking kids to behave and kids - the one important feature of any wedding was absent.

The future seems grey.
